CGRO-COMPTEL was turned off at UT midnight 26 May 00, in preparation for the de-orbit controlled re-entry. BATSE was also turned off, so there will be no more BATSE triggers, so there will be no more real-time capture and processing of the bursts in the COMPTEL FOV.
This table contains information about GRBs in the FOV of COMPTEL. It is updated automatically in real-time. The most recent observation is listed first (reverse time order).
The 9 columns contain: the Date and Time of the burst, the BATSE Trigger Number, the COMPTEL RA,Dec (J2000) location of the burst (if COMPTEL was able to localize the burst), the Intensity of the burst (units are counts), the Significance of the detection, and some Comments. The BATSE Trigger Number is hyper-linked to the GCN/BATSE notices archive file. This file also contains the full text of the GCN/COMPTEL notices (which is useful for the Update Notices because they have the location contours for the COMPTEL error boxes).
The large number of "Not able to localize" bursts in the table below is due to the large zenith aceptance angle used for BATSE location within the COMPTEL FOV that is used to initiate the mechanism for transferring data to UNH to derive a COMPTEL location. COMPTEL sensitivity falls off with large zenith angle and because of COMPTEL's higher energy range only the bright and hard bursts are detectable. For more information on COMPTEL Notices.
